Hey Chris, this is a fantastic article, thank you for taking the time to spell it out. It was fascinating to think of UX as an innovation in itself. Coming from a design firm I think it’s easy to think… “well duh, design should be considered…” but when applying that design work for outside companies your insight on considering UX an innovation makes perfect sense.

Specifically, I loved this section on UX implementation and observability. I work with a lot of small businesses, and often they leave a competitor of our primarily because we stress the fact that our work should have measurable results. Being able to observe the changes that a designer makes I personally believe to be a core component of good design work.
